24Hrs In London!

24Hrs in London! You must be wondering why am I being so ambiguous as I am already living in London since February 2020. Well, well, well… it was one of those interesting 24hrs in this busy city. While the rest of the Londoners were busy working, I was having a gala time with a few of my travel agent buddies. Yeah, we just wanna have fun! In times like these, every moment is worth celebrating.

What’s so special about these 24hrs? Why am I exaggerating so much? Well, for me and the rest of the ladies and gentlemen I met a few hours ago it is indeed special. We all met each other for the very first time in person. So for anyone who didn’t know each other a few moments ago and then becoming good mates in a short span of time is indeed special.

How & where did we end up meeting each other? Inteletravel the company with whom I’m affiliated with had organized a mini staycation, or can I say a fam trip for all the home-based travel agents just like me. The stay was put up at a 5* centrally located hotel in London. Tower Suites by Blue Orchid has some stunning views over the River Thames and the Tower of London. It is located in the heart of the city’s famous business district and with easy access to Canary Wharf, the Square Mile, financial heartland, and London’s most vibrant tourist attractions: a perfect base for a productive stay in the capital.

The group started checking in by 3 p.m at the hotel. We had a great welcome party on the rooftop terrace boasting outstanding views of London’s iconic skyline. Perfect instagrammable spot! We were grateful for the hotel manager to take us on a tour and showing us some of the rooms, suites and giving us the required information. I definitely recommend you to experience a night in this hotel. The hotel takes pride in offering its guests unique experiences. The hotel also hosts an on-site bar, restaurant, and luxurious leisure options from a spa and grooming atelier to a gym and wellbeing services. Now that’s a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate!

With only a few minute’s stroll is St.Katherine’s Dock, Central London’s only Marina. St. Kats has a lot to offer. From unusual office space, luxury homes, to quayside dining and shopping it has it all. We indulged in some lip-smacking Italian food at Zizzi’s in SKD. That was not all, we had an after-party at a local pub just outside our hotel to satiate our thirst buds. Ladies, the night is young! 😉

The next morning, we were all geared up for a fun trip that lied ahead of us. After a good breakfast in bed, we checked out of the hotel and started our little morning walk towards the Tower pier to board our cruise to Greenwich. Such a lovely way to see London by the Thames!

After arriving at Greenwich, we kept our luggage in a tourist center and made our way to Cutty Sark. Once a historic sailing ship and fastest of its time is now an award-winning visitor attraction in Greenwich, London.  It was one of the last tea clippers to be built. Cutty Sark survived storms that ripped its rudder off on two occasions, survived a dismasting in the First World War and a terrible fire in 2007.

Later, we proceeded to the Painted Hall in the Royal Naval College in Greenwich. The Painted Hall is a true masterpiece, boasting one of the most spectacular Baroque interiors in Europe. The extraordinary ceiling and wall decorations were conceived and executed by British artist Sir James Thornhill. Now, who wouldn’t fancy such interiors?! I could gaze at those paintings forever. 😍

For afternoon tea, a British tradition we made our way to the Royal Maritime Museum where we were treated to English tea and scones. This was practically the end of our tour. We clicked photos and parted ways with a few of our newly made friends. Those who wished to join for early evening drinks could head to a local pub in Greenwich and sip on a glass of prosecco.

There are lots of things to see and do around Greenwich. If ever you have 24hrs in London include Greenwich in your itinerary and avoid the crowds at most of the tourist attractions of London.

Tell me in the comment box, how would you like to spend your 24hrs in London?
