Lavender– Where does your mind take you when you hear of this word? It’s definitely Provence, France. What if I tell you, they are also widely found in London? Yes, you hear me right, London has plenty of Lavender fields and one of them is Mayfield Lavender Farm.

Mayfield Lavender is a family-run farm growing 25 acres of organic lavender. It was first planted in 2002 but opened to the public in 2006. It is one of the very few farms to be awarded organic certification by ‘The Soil Association’. They grow two varieties of Lavandula angustifolia (English lavender):  Folgate and Maillette. They also grow a hybrid variety of Lavandula x intermedia, called Grosso.

It was a wonderful sight to behold the Lavender fields, The natural fragrance was just great..!! I was in love with it. You know who else loves lavender apart from me? Its ‘Bees‘. Yes, there are a variety of insects and bees that are attracted to lavender like magnets. The farm is bee-friendly and they strongly believe in the protection of the environment and promote biodiversity.

Whether you are a lavender lover or not, this place is a treat to all. Wondering what you could do here? Here’s a list of things they indulge in. Enjoy a delicious cream tea at their Al Fresco cafe! Stroll through mile after mile of stunning lavender! Hop on The Mayfield Tractor for a tour around the field! Host a party in the field! Have a professional photoshoot. Now that’s what I would love to do. Go click click click! To understand more in detail click here. Also, if you wish to buy some lavender products like oils, fridge magnets, perfumes, etc you could purchase them from their Mayfield Plant and Gift shop. The lavender normally starts to bloom towards the middle to end of June and the peak time is July and August. The harvesting this year happened by 31st August. We were lucky to visit them just 2 days before the harvesting. The lavenders had to fade their color by that time but it was still a lovely sight to behold.

Here I am enjoying my time in those lovely lavenders!
