Winters are approaching and so is Christmas. Hallelujah! Christmas this year is going to be a little different due to the pandemic. Hoping the lockdown to end soon.
Talking of winters, I am already dreaming of a white Christmas. Isn’t the idea of a Christmas with the presence of snow exhilarating? It’s quite exciting for me. This phenomenon is most common in the countries at higher latitudes in the Northern hemisphere.
Considering countries with snow in December, Europe has plenty to offer if you are looking for snowy holidays. From snow-capped mountains, sleigh rides to white Christmas, Europe has it all. Its always a magical experience here.
Check out some of the white Christmas destinations around the world curated just for y’all.
Rovaniemi,Finland. :
Did you know this is an official hometown of our dear Santa Claus? Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland. You can meet Santa Claus everyday throughout the year. How cool is that! Christmas is a special time, as many flock to the arctic town to meet Santa in person and experience the festive season in magical wintery surroundings. Husky and reindeer rides, snowmobile tours, design items and souvenirs, ice and snow constructions, an igloo hotel and holiday village accommodation can be found there.
Typical daytime temperatures in the winter:
- December: -20 to -10 degrees Celsius
- January: -30 to -15 degrees Celsius
- February: -20 to -15 degrees Celsius
- March: -15 to -5 degrees Celsius
Zermatt,Switzerland.

Zermatt is definitely a ‘Home of Winter’. Matterhorn is the first thing that comes to our mind when we think of Zermatt. Heliskiing is a winter experience in a class of its own. In small groups, you can take a helicopter up to over 4,000 m up the mountain. The flight passes very close by the most beautiful mountain in the Swiss Alps, the Matterhorn. Ice-skating, ski and snowboard, sledging are other activities one can indulge in Zermatt.
Srinagar,India :

Its just not Europe where you could experience snow. How about I tell you, white Christmas can be celebrated in India too. Don’t expect a grand Christmas celebration or Santa Claus wandering here. However, the vast meadows with elegant backdrops of sky-high snowy mountains will offer the experience of white Christmas. There is a weeklong snow festival in which you can indulge in activities like snow cycling, sledging, ice skating etc. At night you can enjoy a Gondola ride in moonlight.
This is not it. There are several winter destinations to explore in Asia too. After watching zillions of Korean dramas I would love to explore Seoul. As shown in the popular K-dramas (don’t really know how true it is), if a couple witnesses the first snow together, its said that their love will blossom forever. How romantic!🥰(Do not kill me if its untrue🙏🏻).
Seoul, South Korea :
For most Koreans, Christmas is a commercial and cosmetic event. In Seoul, Christmas is mostly a romantic holiday for couples. During winter in Korea, the whole country is illuminated with incredible lighting festivals. You’ll be totally awed by the extravagance of these events, and they’re sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Everland is a huge theme park in Yongin, near Seoul. Visit during Christmas for some of the most incredible lighting displays in the country, a massive Christmas tree, and tons of special photo zones. Along with thrilling rides, you’ll also find a Santa House, Rudolph Village, Moonlight Parade, Snow Park, and Starlight Zoo. It’s the perfect place to get fully in the Christmas mood.
Start planning for your winter adventures. Lets get decorating our Christmas trees, sing carols, eat gingerbreads and rejoice in true Christmas spirits.
